John F. Dix provides public and private companies with superior board of director representation based on a foundation of 21 years of board service. During this period he has served on boards of public and private companies across a wide range of industries, located in both the US and Canada. Mr. Dix has earned the Advanced Professional Directors Certification accredited by The Corporate Directors Group, a national education and public company director credentialing organization. The capstone course in the series was conducted by Dr. Krishna Palepu, Associate Dean of the Harvard Business School.
Mr. Dix brings unique capabilities and experiences to his role as a board member. His wide range of industry exposure assists in communicating and facilitating cross industry best practices. He brings access to the resources and facilities of The Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University where he is Co-Director of The Center for Operational Excellence and taught product planning and strategic planning in the MBA program for 21 years.
In addition to the normal course of business board activities Mr. Dix has served to mentor senior managers and to assist in the generational transitions in family owned businesses. Mr. Dix’s broad network of CEOs and companies is the enabler to bring together company leaders with counterparts across industries for the purpose of sharing best practices.
In his role as board member Mr. Dix has served on board committees including Governance, Nominating, Human Resource, Compensation and Marketing and Strategic Planning.
In addition to his for profit company board service Mr. Dix has served on a number of operating and foundation non-profit boards of directors. This includes service as a two- term president of a non-profit operating board. His non-profit involvement has focused on issues around children, families and education.
Mr. Dix has had 20 articles published in Business First, a Biz-Journal Publication. The articles are on forming and operating a productive board and on strategic planning. In addition, the quarterly newsletter of the law firm of Bricker & Eckler LLP has published a series of 14 articles on qualities and attributes of productive board members and on the role of the board on defining the tolerance of risk for the company.
